New pilot and atc client and their induction into IVAO India training

IVAO has released the much anticipated versions of the Altitude and Aurora clients with integrated voice and VHF effects- a much welcome change as we officially induct each client into our training system and examinations. Here is a brief introduction to the new software release.
While both current clients have their own integrated voice system, they do come with cross platform and legacy software compatibility i.e users can still communicate with users running older clients with Team Speak. The learning curve is quite shallow if you are thinking about an upgrade.

  • The pilot client: Altitude

Unlike Xivap and Ivap, it is an external application.
You need to uninstall the older clients and restart your system before you install Altitude.

Once Altitude is fired up, you can notice a separate communication tab has been added. You can either use it to tune into the next frequency or use your aircraft radio panel, either way the change is detected by Altitude. A much needed improvement is the elimination of the lag between switching frequencies- a prominent drawback of the older clients.

  • Flight Plan filing

Flight plan filing has taken a step close to real world with the introduction of the filing website - https://fpl.ivao.aero
Just like the pilot client, it has moved out of the simulator plugin too. The website allows you to schedule multiple flight plans while keeping a record of your historic flights.
Aircraft Hangar allows you to add and store aircrafts, saving significant amount of time adding all details of the airframe to the flight plan.

The website overcomes the issue of long remarks and flight plans faced in older client, you no longer need to shorted the route and remarks and you will have an active flight plan as soon as you are online.

  • Atc client: Aurora

Aurora was perhaps the greatest leap into 21st century tech by adding a more GUI based atc client. A bit more cpu intensive compared to its older sibling Ivac, Aurora has a really smooth UI.

We took significant amount of input from real world controllers for our new client with a lot of positive feedback.
Here are two side-by-side images of Aurora vs Real world Ahmadabad area control.
